4 Poster Bed

Castleman Hotel has eight bedrooms decorated and furnished in a range of styles. They each have an ensuite bathroom plus power shower. The three large rooms have roll top baths and some of the larger antique furniture such as Victorian wardrobes, cheval mirror and antique beds.

All of the rooms have radio, television and tea making facilites.

We have one family room (double bed plus two bunks) and it is possible to add a fold up bed or cot to the larger bedrooms. Early supper for children is available by arrangement as is a plug in baby listener.

Drink champagne in your roll top bath, relax in your room with a drink and the television or curl up by the fire with a good book downstairs, the choice is yours.

“To a vast room painted deep coral and an antique-looking four poster minus the usual over-the top country house hotel drapes. There are two armchairs, a king size Victorian wardrobe, a handsome cheval mirror with brass candle holders and a claw foot bath in the otherwise very modern bathroom....Hooray. A thoroughly modern country house hotel…..The waitresses and waiter are all locals, charming and helpful, their approach exactly right for an unpretentious country hotel. The Castleman cook seems to have elevated home cooking to a fine art. …. PS: Fresh orange juice for breakfast and strong coffee.”

Paddy Burt, The Daily Telegraph, June 20 1998

“How much cosier can you get?“

“The 16th century former dower house has only eight bedrooms, but most of them are huge, the original dimensions kept intact.

The restaurant serves inspired, modern British food – local strawberries and asparagus in season, game from neighbouring estates, air-dried ham and wild mushrooms.“

Anne Gregg, Escape Routes, Issue 5, Autumn 2000
